Rotary sponsors cookout for area exchange students

Every year, the Mountain Home Rotary Club sponsors one meal for area exchange students during their annual canoe trip/campout on the Buffalo River. This trip is the final gathering for all the Rotary exchange students that have been sponsored by one of the Rotary Clubs in our district 6110.

Rotary District Youth Exchange Student Perrine Piccioli, at far left, welcomed her family from Caen, Normandy, France, as they visited a Rotary Club of Mountain Home meeting in April. Perrine has been here since last August attending Mountain Home High School. Piccioli family members were the guests of Rotarian David Matty, chairman of international education and cultural exchange for the club, and Rotarian Kala Hatch, whose family hosted Perrine during part of her stay. Shown in the photo, from left, are: Perrine Piccioli, brothers Lucas and Guillaume, mother Veronique, Matty, Hatch, Perrine’s father Jean-Pierre, Haley Hatch, and Rotary President Jodie Elizabeth Jeffrey. Matty said the Mountain Home Rotary Club has hosted exchange students throughout the history of the program and is a co-host for all Rotary District 6110 and 5750 exchange students for an annual Buffalo River float trip. Local students are also encouraged to apply for outbound exchanges, he said.
